Championship High School Basketball Coach,
Former Division 1 Basketball Player, and Inspiration to All.
Fortuitously, I met Billy at a Volleyball Tournament. Little did I know he was a walking inspiration. In this pod, he discusses how he played Division 1 Basketball, but never played high school ball at Archbishop Molloy, how he became an elite high school coach at Half Hollow Hills West, and discussing his coming of age story and inspirational book, Last of the Redmen. All that and more, my conversation with Billy, now.
“Now my team could score
And make it to the final four
Just repossess my 4 x 4
‘Cause nothin’ even matters no more”
– D’Angelo
“I wrote these words for everyone who struggles in their youth
Who won’t accept deception, instead of what is truth
It seems we lose the game
Before we even start to play
Who made these rules?”
– Lauryn Hill
“And could I be a star?
Does fame in this game have to change who you are?
Or could I be the same one who came from a far away life
Just to make it in these Broadway lights?
Now I’m shining in the broad day light, go figure”
– J. Cole
“I’m a success today because I had a friend who believed in me and I didn’t have the heart to let him down.” – Abraham Lincoln
